There’s not much information about Matthew Lyons on the web save that he is producing retro-styled yet still amazingly fresh illustrations and mock title screens for a selection of quirky and pulpy films, while still at university.
There’s a touch of Saul Bass – in his color choices bold compositions – and Kevin Dart – but without the exaggerated figure work and a tighter less brushy use of line. It’s not a surprise that the art and design blogs are already starting to pick up on his work (the illustration below was produced for the desktop wallpaper project at Kitsune Noir and can be downloaded in screen-sized version there).
At the moment you can follow him on flickr and at his blog and it will be very interesting to see where his work takes him once he graduates…
